What is Ozone?Ozone is triatomic oxygen with an atomic weight of 48. It is a colorless gas that has an odor most often described as the smell of fresh air after a spring electrical thunderstorm. Ozone is extremely unstable gas and consequently must be produced and used on site.
What it does and how it works?In water treatment industry, ozone can replace chlorine, bromine and other oxidizing chemicals as a highly effective and fast-acting biocide. It can also be an effective oxidizing agent to oxidize iron, manganese, sulfides, and tannins for removal by filtration. It is interesting to note that the concentration of 0.4 ppm of ozone has a 99.9% microbial destruction effect in a short period of four minutes.
